INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR
July, 05th-07th 2013
“The Dynamic of Islamic Law in Southeast Asia”
This international seminar is an attempt to develop a better and comprehensive understanding of the dynamic of Islamic law conceptually as well as practically in Southeast Asia. It aims to advance academic knowledge that the idea of Islamic law grows in a varied ways considering local culture and Muslims’ understanding on their normative doctrines, and how Muslims in Southeast Asia bring the understanding of Islam down to, their countries in forms of law. This seminar is also significant in deliberating a new “school of thought” in a Southeast Asian-Arab region.
Participants in the seminar will explore works and notions of scholars who are expert in Islamic Law, especially in Islamic Family Law and Islamic Business Law from different perspectives. The seminar is organized by Sharia Faculty, State Islamic University Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, and Indonesia under cooperation with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
Scholars and those who are concern in the topic from a number of universities are invited to submit papers, which will be presented at the seminar and will later be considered for publication. The papers should address the primary papers discussing issues which do not address specifically the primary theme are still cordially welcome as long as the papers are on the issue of Islamic law.
SUGGESTED TOPICS
Specific topics or categories suggested for paper presentations include the following perspectives:
1. Islamic Family Law.
2. Islamic Business Law (Islamic Economic Law).
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Abstracts/papers are due on June, 20nd 2013,
Abstracts accepted will be announced on June, 25th 2013
Full Papers are due on June, 30th 2013
ADMISSION FEE
Rp. 350.000 ($40) for general participant, the fee can be paid to the committee directly at Sharia faculty office or in pre-Seminar session.
